Hello Tripawds!

Hello everyone! On April 18, 2015 I decided to look out my window (which I hardly do) I’m not sure if it was fate but I saw a small dog who needed help with no shoes on I ran a couple blocks after it, when I finally got to him I brought him home. Later that evening we went to the vet and found out his whole pelvic bone was broken, being a 20 year old college student I did what I could! He is now recovering from getting his leg amputated and honestly is really hurts to see him like this post surgery! My boyfriend and I decided to join this community for support and to share mudkips story!

mudkip is very brave; he’s very strong not even showing he’s in pain! He’s a very good boy and although I known him for a very short amount of time I can honestly say I love him! I do feel as though I may not have done the correct choice when choosing his leg, and I know that negativity shouldn’t be around him. I’m trying to be strong just like him! Although I need all the tips I can get! I have two other dogs. Sora a male shepherd mix and Blackie a male chihuahua as is Mudkip.

I’m afraid I’ll mess up through his recovery and I just need advice. When will he begin to live a normal life, when can if ever can he start running and playing! I just need all the tips and advise I can get! Thanks guys!

  1. Welcome!

How wonderful of you to take this injured boy in and get him the care he needed! They are strong – much stronger than we are (on many different levels). It is natural to question the decision, but I think you’ll see soon that it was the right one. Dogs bounce back very quickly, and your choice will hopefully allow him to live a long, and most importantly, a pain-free, life. He will certainly be running around, it may take a bit of time. This is normal. The first week or so is the hardest.

You’ll get lots of great advice and support here. We were lucky to find Tripawds when we were going through this!

  2. Hi guys, welcome. You are really pawsome for rescuing Mudkips (great name!) and giving him the care and family he needs. 3-paws up to you!

My first advice: breathe. Stay strong and know that the more pawsitive and strong you are, the better Mudkips will be about the recovery process. What you believe, he believes. He’s looking to you for leadership.

You’ve come to the right place.
